Italian Grinder Sandwich

This classic grinder is layered with a tangy, herb mayo and spicy pepperoncini, all served on Villaggio® Rustico™ Multigrain for an indulgent bite. Prefer more heat? A drizzle of hot chili oil adds a spicier twist.

Ingredients

  • 4 slices Villaggio® Rustico™ Harvest Multigrain, toasted
  • 1/4 cup (60 mL) Hellmann’s® Real Mayonnaise
  • 2 tsp (10 mL) Italian dressing
  • 1 pepperoncini pepper, seeded and finely chopped
  • 1 clove garlic, minced
  • 2/3 cup (150 mL) shredded lettuce
  • 4 slices of tomato
  • 2 thinly sliced red onion rounds
  • 4 slices of salami
  • 2 slices prosciutto
  • 2 slices mortadella
  • 4 slices of provolone cheese

Directions

  1. Whisk together the mayonnaise, Italian dressing, pepperoncini, and garlic.
  2. Top 2 slices of bread with mayonnaise, lettuce, tomato and red onion.
  3. Drizzle with half the dressing mixture.
  4. Stack salami, prosciutto, and mortadella on top.
  5. Drizzle with remaining dressing.
  6. Top with cheese and cap with the remaining bread slices.

Tip: Mix and match your favourite deli meats to suit your taste.
Smoked turkey, ham, and capicola all bring classic European deli flavour to this sandwich.
