This diner favourite gets an upgrade with heirloom tomato slices, fresh basil and lemony mayonnaise on Villaggio® Italian Style Bread.

  • 8 slices Villaggio® Original Thick Sliced Italian Style White Bread, toasted
  • 1/3 cup (75 mL) mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp (5 mL) lemon juice
  • 1/2 tsp (2 mL) cracked black pepper
  • 8 slices fresh heirloom tomato
  • 8 slices thick-cut bacon, cooked crisp
  • Boston Bibb lettuce leaves
  • Handful fresh basil leaves


Stir together mayonnaise, lemon juice and pepper; spread evenly over 4 slices of bread.

Top with tomato, bacon, lettuce and basil. Cap with remaining slices of bread.

Tip: Alternatively, use green or red leaf lettuce and arugula instead of Bibb lettuce and basil.
