The secret to this pizza grilled cheese is to pick your favourite toppings to pair this classic recipe.

  • 8 slices Villaggio® Original White Sliced Bread
  • 1/2 cup (125 mL) pizza sauce
  • 1 1/3 cup (325 mL) grated mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 tsp (2 mL) dried oregano
  • 8 slices genoa salami
  • 4 tsp (20 mL) olive oil


Preheat grill to medium heat; grease grate well. Spoon pizza sauce over half the bread slices. Sprinkle each evenly with mozzarella and oregano. Top with 4 slices salami and cap with remaining bread slices.

Brush outside of sandwiches with oil. Grill sandwiches for 1 to 2 minutes per side or until cheese melts and bread is grill-marked.

If serving for less people, divide accordingly.


Substitute salami with pepperoni, ham or smoked turkey. For a vegetarian pizza add cooked peppers, mushrooms or onions.
